Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been in practice in Houston since 1999. After graduating from the University of Houston she attended Baylor College of Medicine and completed her residency training at the University of Texas in Houston, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident in 1998-1999.

Dr. Hardwick-Smith is an associate of the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of America and is the first gynecologist in Houston to focus on cosmetic gynecology. She is well known for her study of anesthesia for neonatal circumcision, which was published in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1998 and received several awards. Her other academic achievements include being honored as the Outstanding Chief Resident in 1999 and an award for excellence in laparoscopic surgery in1998. She is on staff at Memorial Hermann (obstetrics and gynecology) and St. Lukes Hospitals (gynecology only) and is a clinical instructor at the University of Texas Medical School.

In December 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 Dr. Hardwick-Smith was one of only several Ob/Gyns in the Medical Center to be honored as a “Texas Superdoctor” in Texas Monthly magazine. She was also honored in H Texas magazine as one of Houston’s “Top Doctors for Women” in 2006, 2007 and 2008, as well as Houston’s “Top Doctors” in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In December 2006 she was nominated for “Physician of the Year” at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Dr. Hardwick-Smith is an experienced marathon runner and enjoys jogging, gardening and spending time with her husband, her young son and twin daughters when she is not at the office.

Recently I underwent a surgery that has helped to change my life a considerable amount. Before I had this surgery I was uncomfortable about the esthetics of my genitalia. I had always felt inhibited when I was involved in a relationship and my sexuality was suppressed for as long as I can remember. Approximately a year ago I underwent surgery for labial reduction. I was nervous before my operation, but the friendly staff made me feel very comfortable. I'm very happy to say my results are even better than expected. The work was obviously done with care. My healing process went smoothly and there are no visible marks from the surgery. I feel confident now that I am pleased with my appearance and enjoy sex much more now that there is no embarrassment.

I must also say that I have lost no sense of feeling whatsoever and I would recommend this procedure to anyone who has been considering it. Who better to handle the situation than the gynecologist.

Parking is available in the University of Texas Professional Building garage (painted orange and white) with access on Fannin or Main Streets, and in the new Hermann Plaza garage on the corner of Fannin and McGregor. Parking fees range from $3-10 depending on time. Valet parking is available for $10 in the UT Professional Building with access on Main Street, or at Memorial Hermann Hospital’s main entrance on Fannin Street.

We are easily accessible from downtown by Metrorail. The Memorial Hermann/Zoo train stop is right outside our door.
The UT Professional Building is a historic 1940s brick building with an orange tile roof flying the Texas and US flags. Frost Bank is located on the first floor and we are next door to the new glass high rise Hermann Plaza on the corner of Fannin and McGregor.
