So, who is HON?
HON (Health on the Net Foundation), based in Switzerland, is a non-governmental organization that monitors legitimate medical information websites for truthfulness, accuracy and ethical standards. They have qualified medical professionals that critique the information on web portals for accuracy and correctness—including physicians (MDs), PhD’s, Pharmacists, medical researchers, lawyers and computer scientists.
As they state on their web portal they were, “founded to encourage the dissemination of quality health information for patients and professionals and the general public, and to facilitate access to the latest and most relevant medical data through the use of the internet.”
As such, they offer a certifying program that has the highest standards in truthfulness and information distribution found on the Internet, so the reader or consumer can be assured that what they are reading isn’t disingenuous in nature, or misleading. The HONcode and certification medallion, that can only be displayed on an approved medical information web portal, such as the www.labiaplastysurgeon.com (LPS) web portal, and LPS must become recertified to maintain these tough standards. The vast majority of informational medical websites do not qualify for the HONcode and they currently limit their certification to less than 7,500 websites, GLOBALLY!
HON states; “The HONcode seal is an ethical standard aimed at offering quality health information. It demonstrates the intent of a website to publish transparent information. The transparency of the website will improve the usefulness and objectivity of the information and the publishment of correct data.”
“Sites applying for certification and sites already certified undertake to respect the HONcode and the requirements for certification.”
Why HON Does Website Certification—
With all the Internet clutter and redundant content now appearing globally on a variety of websites, HON is the last line of defense for the consumer to be assured that what they are reading is accurate and/or not unethical. They do certification to assure the patient that the information they are reading on the LPS website is accurate and not overstated. Labiaplastysurgeon.com has been certified by HON for over six (6) years and will continue to meet their tough standards for medical information honesty, credibility and integrity. Few, if any other medical websites in the labiaplasty and vaginoplasty surgical areas have this assurance.
Why Should This Be Important To Me?
You need a medical procedure, let’s say. You scan the Internet for information about the procedure and after an Internet search, you find a number of websites. Some have visually attractive splash pages. Some are buying ads on the top or sides of the search. Some websites supposedly have “honest” reviews by patients who’ve had this procedure done. You, of course, rely on these websites and/or referrals from others for getting honest information. Then you pick a surgeon based on “what they say” or what “others” supposedly say about the procedure you’re about to have done . . . and you have the procedure. Then, your world crumbles. You have a bad to terrible result. Sadly, you find out later that the “reviews” were the surgeon’s brother’s wife, (who never had the procedure done, as they claim) or someone who paid for these so-called “referrals and testimonials,” and after a bit more research, you discover that the information claimed on the website you used was completely false and misleading. What do you do?
Nothing. It’s too late.
You are stuck with a revision that can cost you two to three times what the original procedure would have cost had you gone to a reliable, honest, HONcode certified surgeon/website—and in at least half the instances, there is NO method to revise the surgical mistakes. You live your life with a terrible surgical result and in most instances, worse than when you started.
Again . . . why is HONcode IMPORTANT AND CRITICAL to you? Because it’s your body that you may be gambling with, and if you rely on untested, unreliable, overstated, or blatantly disingenuous information—information NOT certified by HON medical doctors and other aligned professionals, then it’s your own fault. That’s why HON certification is important to you!!
The old joke, “I saw it on the Internet, and everything on the Internet is true, right?” can make you the brunt of the old joke if you’re not careful. Now more than ever, rely on HONcode and certification as has labiaplastysurgeon.com and tens of thousands of former labiaplastysurgeon.com satisfied patients.
